To my fishing buddies:

On June 17th 2009 the secret to deep sea fishing had been revealed:

First, you have to feed the fish

and then they will jump right into y'er boat!

Nah, it ain't quite that easy, but the ol' fisher swears by squid as a bait. I shall report back quite soon!

One week Capital, one week Paradesa and one week at home

I am back from my wonderful vacation! And let me tell you: it was bloody fantastic!

I must admit that at first I still had trouble taking my mind off from work and all the craziness that comes with it.

My friends "Dromedar", "Clown", "Bär" and of course the one and only "Knut" (also known as "Wixer") joined me for this exciting adventure. Our plan was to explore the Capital first and then to get lost somewhere down south amongst beautiful landscape and weather.

In the Capital we did the standard sightseeing program.

As "Knut" and I had already been to the Forbidden City, instead of taking the main walkways, we adventured into the side alleys. Let me tell you: One should have a map and a compass to be able to walk through the City!

The Great Wall was a must-do for everyone, so we managed to arrange a van (which turned out to be a wagon) to take us to Badaling Mutianyu.

The way up to the wall was fairly easy (for those who are not afraid of heights): ski lift. To come back down we were given two options: take the ski lift or slide down the toboggan. We all agreed to slide down. What a fantastic ride!

After a full week of staying in the Capital, we needed a break from the masses. Our next stop was Guilin in south China. Sadly enough, the hotel in Guilin managed to provide us with THE three rooms that did not include windows, therefore we left the next morning to Yangshuo.

Once in Yangshuo we were finally able to kick back and relax. The Hotel was magnificent and the village itself was settled neatly amongst hills. The surroundings had plenty of sightseeing to offer, which guaranteed a wonderful stay.

Since the city is next to the Li river we just had to book bamboo boats and float upstream to engulf the view.

All in all it was a very relaxing vacation, filled with laughter, good times and fond memories.

My vacation, however, did not end there. I flew back with the group and spent a week in one of my other home towns. I must say, it was fantastic to be back in a country where I can understand the language.

Now I am back in Ultimate Destination, my new home, and the routine is finding its way slowly through my relaxed mind.

Until next time:

Happy Landings!

Vacation

Before I start getting into the latest news of Luàn, let me tell you about my past few days.
I have spent the past ten days in the country I like to think of as my little paradise: Malaysia.
The main purpose of my trip was to check on my health status. Overall, these ten days were quite relaxing, up until the last weekend. I had received a notice about my flight back to Middle Earth being cancelled. Of course panic set in, since I was to report back to work on Wednesday, which by the way is today.
After trying to get in contact with the travel agency, I decided to take matters into my own hands. After several phonecalls I was able to set my departure date for today. That meant that I was going to be just one day late for work. So far so good.
The flights themselves (I am still in the capital of Middle Earth, which leaves me with one last flight left for the Ultimate Destination) went flawlessly. But of course, had everything gone perfect today, it would have meant that some superior force produced a miracle today. My tiny piece of checked in luggage was forgotten on my first stop. Thankfully the inhabitants of Middle Earth can be polite creatures, if one approaches them with certainty and a bit of dominance. My dear suitcase will meet me at my Ultimate Destination tomorrow afternoon, or so they claim.
I must say I love terminal three of the capital. Of course the massive security measurements can cause a bit of uneasiness, but right now it is my all time favorite terminal. Mind you I said terminal, not airport!
Well, this is half of the chaos that has surrounded me on my little vacation.

Happy landings!
